SAO Beta testerIt's said that one hundred thousand people, the number of half the Nerve Gear sold at that time, volunteered to be a tester. The beta test only recruited a thousand testers. Beta testers also received the additional benefit of being able to pre-order the game, which Akatsuki's father was able to purchase when his son, Akatsuki's Step-Brother, found out that she was interested in SAO.
Before creating an avatar for herself she thought that being a female on the game would create problems. She didn't know how many girls her age were interested in video games so she decided to venture the game as a male. Her avatar was a well-built young man, appearing to be in his late teens or early twenties. Akatsuki laughed at the idea, but she thought it could also amuse her. After choosing being a male she thought of an actual appearance and thought of a wonderful idea. She didn't want her avatar to look like her, or have anything to have a similar appearance as her, it was no fun. Instead of making her avatar having black hair and blue eyes like she did, he would have dark red hair with golden eyes, her avatar looking just like her older brother. After all he was the one to thank for the beta, this was all she could do to thank him. After she was satisfied with her male avatar she kept going in circles about what name she should go as. She knew more people from Japan would play SAO than any other country, so she kept her avatar's name Japanese: Kiyoshi, meaning pure. She had done much research on mmorpg and noticed that some players love playing the hero, princess, or villain. She, of course, wanted to be a hero, not a soft gentle "save me, save me!" princess, or the dark, sinister "I'm so evil and powerful that my power will destroy you!" villain either. Kiyoshi just seemed a perfect name. Not only that, but she was glad she knew English, Spanish, and her first language Japanese so she can befriend so many other players. As a beta tester, she learned so much. She was already becoming an expert like so many other gamer's who had more years of experience than she did. It never occurred to them that Kiyoshi was actually a she and that was how she liked and preferred it. She acted just like her older brother; strong willed, strong minded, and above all strong hearted. Both of them were very similar, but he was more outgoing with the crowed and wiser, considering he was twenty-three and out of the house. That was when she knew she didn't need so many friends on SAO, being a solo player was an okay thing. She was able to feel free and alive doing things on her own, especially things she could never do in real life. Though, when someone needed the help, she rose to the challenge, helping in any way she could. |
Avatar Name: Kiyoshi
Age: Appears to be in his early to mid-twenties Height: 5'10 Hair: Reddish-Brown Eyes: Golden Amber Weapons: Sword Appearance: During the beginning of the game and during the beta-testing phase, Kiyoshi had the appearance of a ridiculously handsome male from some fantasy animation, also looking older than Akatsuki's age. His clothing consists of a white button up shirt with a black vest and a long black-and-white sleeveless jacket lined with red lining , red hand guards/gloves, a white belt to hold his sword, and black trousers tucked into the boots. Personality: Kiyoshi's attitude during the beginning of the game and during the beta-testing phase, he seems like he has a calm cool personality. He was opposite from Akatsuki, more cheerful and outgoing among the crowd, showing an interest in everyone. Many girls and males seemed to have seen that Kiyoshi knew his way around and asked to join him so he could show the new players a few tricks to the game. Seeming as Akatsuki never made friends in the real world as her male avatar she accepted their request to tag along. After a few moments in the fields, more groups of people watched Kiyoshi defeat many of the bore and automatically thought he was amazing and joined in the large group of people training with him. Many of the girls found him attractive and began flirting with him to the point it made him feel uneasy. To make the situation less stressful and awkward he was going to logout, leaving his male side behind to become a female once again. When logging out he had noticed the button missing from the panel and thought this was odd. At that moment him and the other players where forcefully teleported to the Town of Beginnings to receive an announcement from Kayaba Akihiko. He reveals that the lack of a log out function, which Kiyoshi had recently realized, was a "feature" of his new game, and that forced removal of the NerveGear head piece from the other side will fry the person's brain using microwaves. The only means to escape is to clear the game; that is, to successfully defeat all 100 levels of Aincrad and defeat the final boss. A few moments after, Kayaba Akihiko informed the players that they were given a gift from him, which turned out to be a Hand Mirror. All player avatars were changed to reflect their real life appearances. |
